Strong little woman

Abrielle is one month old as of this past Sunday.

This seems cruel to me. My baby girl is supposed to still be a little newborn baby. Not a one-month old that can hold her head so well. Not a sweet little smiler who has been smiling now for the past few days. I'm totally enjoying it though.

Abrie's been making it a pattern these days to wake up around 1:30-1:45am for her first night feeding and then not wanting to go back to bed in her crib. It's been taking until past 3:30am or so to get her back to sleep, which can be quite draining without Dan, but she's such an incredibly sweet little girl that it is all worth it.

My little Breezer is growing like a weed. My sweet little lady. I love her so very much.

Beginning of chatter

Abrie cooed today for the first time, and absolutely made Madison's day (and ours!).

Out of nowhere, she was on the little barnyard mat and said "oooo" and Maddie and I both looked at each other and started clapping. I think Maddie was totally taken aback at the fact that Abrie could start making little noises, and she just loves it. She kept asking her Breezer to do it for the entire rest of the day, to no avail.

My sweet little lady. I can't get over the fact that she is 4 weeks old already today. She will be one month old on Sunday. Unreal. It feels as though she should be 2 days old forever.

The little fish

My youngest child is rolling. Yep, rolling.

I think it is due to the fact that she flops her little body around like a fish out of water, but whatever it is, the girl has been "rolling" since the day we brought her home from the hospital. The doctor even remarked about it at her 4-day check-up, and I just checked on her and she is now on her stomach sleeping when I placed her against her against her bumper for a nap.

Craziness!

2-week appointment

Miss Abrie had her 2-week appointment this morning.

Littlest woman was accompanied by her big sisters who were so proud and watchful of their baby sissy. Faith kept telling the nurse and the doctor, "Dis Beeba" (reminds me so much of Maddie when she used to introduce Faith at this age) and Maddie kept telling them, "This is our little Bay Breezer." Haha.

My baby girl now weighs 6 lbs, 13 oz and is 20 inches long. She gained a little over a pound in a little over a week. She already seems so much bigger to me, and yet she's really only 2 oz bigger than Faith as a newborn. Crazy! I love my little ladies.

I had been concerned about Abrie's umbilical cord that had fallen out last week, and yet was still oozing and bleeding. The doctor had to put some sort of stick in it today (for the life of me, I can't remember what the technical term for it was) because there were still remnants of the umbilical cord in her bellybutton that were the source of the oozing. It's not infected or anything like that, and she said it should be completely healed within a few days. I'm anxious to get Abrie in a 'real' bath because I know she'll love it! She loves having her hair washed, but HATES the darn sponge baths!

Little Bay Breeze

I love these two pictures.

Abrie makes me laugh at how many things she does that remind me 100% of how she used to move inside my stomach. It's surreal to see her doing things, and I tell Dan "that is totally what she used to do in the nights!" My little companion. She flinches the same and makes the same faces and crosses her arms and hands exactly the same as she used to do on the few ultrasounds we had with her. It's so neat.

My littlest woman is remarkably laid-back during the day. (Knock on wood). She truly makes keeping with our old routines quite easy. She fits right in with everything. She has two consistent 'awake and alert' periods now: first thing in the morning and in the evening after dinner and a bath. Maddie and Faith LOVE when she is awake, and are quick to ask her if she wants to see their thousands upon thousands of toys. They love seeing her with her eyes wide opened, as do Dan and I.

Her cord fell off yesterday. One day shy of two weeks old. But, there is still some ooze in there and it made me nervous, so I did call the doctor. She goes for her 2-week appointment on Tuesday, so we'll see how it's healing then. I'm anxious to see how much she weighs at this appointment, as she already looks bigger to me. She eats so incredibly well!
